Kaitlyn & Scott
A Smith Rock Engagement Session

Smith Rock is one of those places that makes your jaw drop and your hairs stick up on the back of your arms and makes you say… “Really Oregon…?” WOW! Smith Rock is one of Oregon’s many wonders and I loved photographing Kaitlyn and Scott’s wondrous connection there back in late winter. This kind and fun couple and I had a lot of fun hiking around the area and finding the winter sun through the rock slivers. From the sage grass to the juniper, I love the high desert vegetation of this sacred land near Bend, Oregon. One of my favorite moments is when an older hiker came up and told the couple “Well, that would be a really great photo!” We laughed as he didn’t see me taking pics all the while. I’m so excited about Scott and Kaitlyn’s wedding in the Bend area this summer!

Tori & Carter
A Domaine Roy & fils Engagement

Tori and Carter are a gorgeous and kind couple who love travel, good food & wine, and most of all, laughter. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Tori when she was the Maid of Honor at her sister, Libby’s stunning Portland wedding, over seven years ago! We hit it off and instantly clicked. I was squealing with delight when she reached out to me via Instagram to let me know it was her turn to tie the knot with the love of her life! It was non-stop laughs when we met up on a perfect autumn day at the beautiful Domaine Roy & fils in Dundee, Oregon. We walked in the vines and took in the epic views from the terrace. Of course ending the session in a little dancing and a delicious wine tasting at sunset. A perfect evening in wine country. Very honored and excited to be documenting Carter and Tori’s wedding very soon at the Portland Golf Club!

Carly & Alex
An Oregon Coast Engagement

Carly and Alex are a fun loving and kind couple with a love of nature and adventures. To replicate one of their first dates, we headed to Cannon Beach at the Oregon Coast. We also fit in a quick stop to Ecola State Park with sweeping views of the shoreline, mountains and ocean for miles. From adventuring into the deep grasses at Ecola to splashing in the Pacific Ocean waves, we had a total blast and I’m looking forward to their wedding this month at the gorgeous Scholls Valley Lodge.

Jordan & Steven
A Vancouver Waterfront Engagement

Jordan and Steven and I met up along the Vancouver waterfront last fall for their fun engagement session. From the urban vibe of tall buildings, modern bridges and a killer waterfront view to the more intimate time over drinks at the stunning Dosalas Restaurant we had a total blast! Loved their champagne spray moment of pure hilarious-ness! (is that even a word? If not, it should be!) They are one of the many couples effected by Covid and finally have their big fun day planned for this month! So happy for this beautiful and kind couple!

Monica and Jim
A Mountain View Orchards Engagement

Monica and Jim and I met up in spring and Oregon, yet again, proved to be unpredictable with the weather… But the love was delivered!  The stormy evening took place in a field of tulips at the mesmerizing Mountain View Orchards venue. Despite the weather we had a blast, made magic and then Mt Hood peeked out for the grand finale. Monica and Jim, a gorgeous and super fun couple are getting married this weekend, and I’m so excited! . Honored and excited to document their wedding at Amaterra!

Anna & David
An Ironlight Wedding in Lake Oswego

Anna and David are such a fun and chill couple! They decided to tie the knot at Lake Oswego’s Ironlight, a gorgeous venue not far from the waterfront with rooftop deck and plenty of space for dancing. Wedding planner Catherine Sammon with Bridal Bliss PNW, did a wonderful job organizing the day from cocktail hour to ceremony to reception. When Anna walked down the aisle, David played “Blackbird” on his acoustic guitar and the guests were all moved to tears. There wasn’t a dry eye in the venue (except for their son, Jack, who was fast asleep on grandma’s shoulder)! Anna was absolutely stunning in her Essense of Australia gown from Ania Bridal along with makeup and hair from Blossom and Beauty. The party was epic with music pumping, guests dancing on the literal rooftop while watching the sunset. Congratulations Anna and David!

Lucy & Matt
A Smith Rock Engagement

Lucy and Matt are a wondrous couple full of joy and laughter. They love the outdoors and we met up recently at the iconic Smith Rock in the Bend, Oregon area for their stellar engagement session. I loved their wolf shirts, which we just had to capture with their cute pup, Ursula. The weather was especially great for late winter and Bend, Oregon provided for an amazing sunset with lots of lens flair and perfectly windswept hair (and Lucy’s skirt!) I love movement in photos like this so I was squealing with happiness at the magical art we made together and the fun we had. Can’t wait for their intimate Mt. Hood wedding at Timberline Lodge soon!

Front Porch Portrait Series
Our Strength at Home in 2020

2020 might not have been exactly what anyone expected, but for so many it allowed time to slow down and soak in precious moments with our family. Through my Portland Front Porch Portrait series, documented in May 2020, during the mandated quarantine due to the Covid 19 pandemic, I photographed 15 families that wanted to encapsulate this unprecedented time with family portraits.  Remembering all the beauty in the chaos and to hold memories of strength at home with our nearest and dearest loves.

I’m so excited to share some highlights from the Portland families I had the pleasure of photographing, making the best of a tough year and creating joy together during the lockdown of 2020. These were all photographed by me, with a mask on, all at a proper social distance using longer and telephoto lenses outside on families porches, and yards.Thank you to all the families who chose me to document these bittersweet memories at home and for sharing your personal thoughts about the experience. I’ve included select quotes along with photographs to share this strength in our homes and our families during this hard time. Hugs to you all and stay safe out there!

“I’m writing to tell you I am SO glad to have your photos. I absolutely love love LOVE #28, Sam looking lovingly at smiling Lily & Henry that you rendered in black & white. I know this will be one of the most cherished images I’ll ever have of my children. I’m going to put it into a big beautiful frame. I told my husband it’s one of the things coming to the nursing home with us some day :)” -Dawn Peck
“Jessica photographed our wedding 5 years ago, and when she announced she was doing Porch Portraits , I was thrilled to have her surprise my husband when I had a socially distancing birthday with members of his family. It was the first time we had seen each other in months that was not through a screen. I had also booked the Portland Famous Unipiper as another surprise for his party. She took pictures of us with the Unipiper , with our family in masks and around the outside of our newly purchased home. We are so happy to have professional documentation of a strange, emotional and unique time with someone who makes us comfortable like we are chatting with an old friend.” -Nicole Benoit“In a time when you feel like lots of things are being taken away these photos are a great reminder to appreciate what we do have – a home and our family.” -Patience Deeks “Jessica’s work is phenomenal. She is able to capture the tiniest sparkles–the love contained in each moment! These months have been a rollercoaster of emotions and uncertainty, but contained within have been cherished weeks of getting to spend time with our children and seeing them grow. I felt every drop of that sentiment in our porch photos. We felt safe and seen. When I look at these images, I will remember the best of times and the magic.” -Katherine Berman
“Grateful to have many wonderful pictures of our family, a beautiful memory from a challenging time. This period will shape us as we move forward, and I hope these photos will be a reminder of the comfort that family provides each of us.” -Kellie Gulden“We were so happy to have Jessica come by for these photos. The pandemic disrupted our plans for a photoshoot with our baby in his first year, but we were still able to capture the moment in front of our new home, where we are getting to spend so much time together now. Jessica shot our engagement and wedding photos as well, and it was so nice to have her behind the camera again!” -Jesse Neilson and Giorgina Castillo

“So special! We had recently moved into our home and just got a new puppy so it truly captured this moment in time! The good and the bad.”  -Merrin Permut
