Oregon Bride Best of 2015

It’s been such an incredible year and I’m so honored that Oregon Bride Magazine named me the Best Independant Photographer in Portland… again!!! I won back in 2013 and it feels so warm and fuzzy to win again. This is a two tiered voting process where the public votes first, and then vendors specific to the wedding industry vote later. From the rooftops I shout… “Thank You All!” I couldn’t have done it without your support and votes and you guys mean the world to me. As you know, I live, eat, breath and dream wedding photography and I feel extremely passionate about this incredible industry. It’s a true joy to be celebrated in this way. Much love and Happy Holidays!

Michelle and Chris
A Portland Oregon Engagement

When you first meet Michelle and Chris, you can’t help but notice how so full of love, kindness, joy and adventure they have together and for others! Michelle and Chris fell in love among the castles of Germany and Chris proposed on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, so I knew these photos would be something epic! The engagement session started as a fun day along Mississippi with a beer/photo stop at Prost! a classic German beer spot, and then our day turned to evening and a magical adventure happened all around Portland! We headed to the East Bank Esplanade, the new SE Portland mural “Everything is Everything” (Which inspired me to then listen to that song by Lauren Hill and the Fugees from the way back! SO good! ) and then to their awesome neighborhood around the Alberta Arts area to hang with their cute pup, Charlie.

They are going to be saying their I Do’s on the coast of the Big Island of Hawaii on the shores of the Kealakekua Bay. I’m SO very honored to be documenting this next huge adventure in their lives and couldn’t be more excited for them!

Jessica and Aidan
A Lake Oswego Wedding

Aidan and Jessica are truly a match made in the skies. Having proposed in a hot air balloon, this couple loves adventure, travel and embracing life together. To hear a list of their many journeys, it almost sounds like a choose your own adventure novel! Africa, Germany, South America, Myanmar, Indonesia, and beyond. It was such a great time hearing some of their stories, meeting their families and friends from around the world and getting to know this wonderful couple at their July 25 wedding at Lake Oswego’s Foundry. With coordination from Elizabeth at Bridal Bliss and flowers from Jordan at Blum, this was a perfect love story. Complete with a light rain shower during their ceremony on the river, a truly unforgettable moment. Congrats Jess and Aidan and thank you for choosing me to document this great adventure for you both! Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-001 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-002 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-003 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-006 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-005 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-004 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-009 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-010 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-007 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-008Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-011 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-012 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-013 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-014Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-016 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-017 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-018 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-019 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-020Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-021 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-022 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-023 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-024 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-025Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-026 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-028 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-027 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-031Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-032 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-034Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-033 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-035 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-036 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-037 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-038 dad-daughterLake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-039 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-040 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-041 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-042 Lake-Oswego-Wedding-Photos-043

Leonidas Baby Shower!

Yeah for baby Leonidas! John and Julieth are a beautiful and kind couple who are expecting soon and with that comes a shower celebration for both the ladies and the gents!  With incredible styling and coordination for both showers from Nora with Bridal Bliss,  both nights were nothing short of perfection! The ladies gourmet dinner party was breathtaking in a gorgeous white tabletop with exquisite blooms from Zest Floral and a delicious menu from Art of Catering. The ladies had a baby shower to remember! Congrats Julieth and thank you Mary!

The fun guys night celebrated John’s new to-be fatherhood by taking a the Double Decker PDX bus around Portland for a night. With a bar stop at Circa 33, the gentlemen enjoyed cocktails, beer, parlor games and of course, a bottle chugging contest. they followed the night up with an excellent dinner at chef Jason French’s restaurant, Ned Ludd. (One of my personal faves!) SO much fun. Thanks Mark for documenting and congrats John!

From a bride’s lens
Now a Mrs!

So it’s officially our one month anniversary as a married couple! We made it through the pre-planning, the rehearsal, the picnic, the wedding and the honeymoon and it feels good. It feels good to be a wife, to have a husband, to now officially be married and to be done with all the beautiful chaos that is wedding planning!

Our wedding was truly a dream, with picture perfect weather, incredible vendors, a stunning view of Mt. Hood, delicious food and drinks, awesome music and all of our closest family and friends in one place. Amazing. I think back and smile and want to do it all over again. (Can I be a guest too?!) Do you know how they say your wedding goes by so fast, it’s so true!

Did things go wrong… Oh yes! Like a table number mix-up that resulted in table nine having over 16 guests, a bus schedule misprint on the website, and upon waking up, noticing that my right eye had a bothered blood vessel due to stress and crying happy tears all weekend (thank god for Paula, my hairdresser who covered my eye with a classic vintage-inspired updo!) I was more nervous than I expected on the wedding day, but not in a bad way, more like a ton of energy, anticipation, anxiety and complete joy was bubbling all over and I definitely was happy to do some morning yoga. Having my ladies there, especially my sister, Lauren (who flew in from Thailand for the wedding) was reassuring and calming. However, seeing Evan was the best moment of the day for me, he grounded me, brought me back to the moment and reminded me that this entire day was for us and perfect in all of it’s imperfections.

Now it’s time to sit back, wait for the photos and video and drink our coffee out of our Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Adler mugs. (One of many very cool wedding gifts- thanks all!) Alas, the thank you’s still need to be done (yikes!) and our kitchen needs to be about three times its size to fit all of our new gadgets, pots and pans; we’re slowly starting the next big life step- buying a home. (but that’s a whole new blog!)

Thanks Jeff Newsom for the stunning art you created and Lindsay Hile for the fun party and detail pics to share.

Gina and Jesse
A Portland State University Engagement

Gina and Jesse are sweet as can be, and will be getting married this August! Since they met on the PSU campus about 5 years ago, we decided to include a little of their love story in their photos. So, we photographed at the Portland State University campus, around and in a few of the cool buildings there. This ended up being awesome, because we dodged an insane rainstorm! Phew! I fell in love with their pup, Wally, who is a natural in front of the camera. We ended the shoot in Forest Park and love the juxtaposition between the urban vibe and the natural look. I’m SO excited for their wedding this August and can’t wait to share those pics too! Gina’s stunning hair and makeup by the talented Jein King.

April and Justin’s Album

April and Justin’s square 12*12” album is a thing of beauty. It’s so timeless, elegant, yet approachable at the same time. It’s a black and brown leather that’s worn in but clean and goes great with their Medicine Creek Vineyard wedding.

Cat and Sam’s Heirloom Wedding Album
