portland_wedding_photographers7.jpg portland_wedding_photographers4.jpg Another fave. Check her eyelashes! Wow!

portland_wedding_photographers10.jpg

Jenni and Kyley and I all met up recently for a quintessential Portland photo shoot, with a little bit of sun and a lot of rain. Luckily, J&K live in the Pearl and we had a few awesome opportunities to duck for cover and create personal pics of the couple in their hip apartment, and in the courtyard of the impressive building. They are also in the process of selling their space, so these pics will be really meaningful after they've moved and can reminisce about their first space together as a couple. I'm really looking forward to their Aug. 28th wedding and hope they love the sneak peek!

vintage-portland-wedding4.jpg Kim and Peter had an incredible vintage-inspired wedding with their closest family and friends at their NE home.

vintage-portland-wedding1.jpg vintage-portland-wedding.jpg K&P were inspired by vintage photos of their family and we tried to replicate the poses and coloring of these cherished photos that adorn their walls.

vintage-portland-wedding6.jpg vintage-portland-wedding5.jpg Kim looked incredible in her hand dyed dress, mary janes and feathers in her hair.

vintage-portland-wedding10.jpg The ceremony was short and sweet and took place in their dining room with about 6 attendees. Very intimate and cozy.

vintage-portland-wedding11.jpg vintage-portland-wedding7.jpg The invites and cake topper all came from their illustrator friend who used the couple and Edward Gorey as inspiration.

vintage-portland-wedding16.jpg vintage-portland-wedding8.jpg vintage-portland-wedding2.jpg vintage-portland-wedding3.jpg The delicious food and bar was catered by the lovely folks at Holocene.

vintage-portland-wedding15.jpg
vintage-portland-wedding13.jpg Duchess created and tailored the suit for Peter and they are awesome.

vintage-portland-wedding12.jpg vintage-portland-wedding14.jpg vintage-portland-wedding19.jpg vintage-portland-wedding18.jpg This wedding was so beyond average. It was laid back, artistic, intimate and tons of fun.

vintage-portland-wedding17.jpg vintage-portland-wedding21.jpg vintage-portland-wedding9.jpg vintage-portland-wedding20.jpg

Kim and Peter created an incredible afternoon and evening of festivities surrounding their marriage on May 8th. With a small ceremony in their dining room, a cocktail and appetizer reception in their turn of the century home, this wedding was very one of a kind. Inspired by vintage images of their families ancestry and the illustrations of Edward Gorey, they created a unique atmosphere for their family and friends. I loved everything about this wedding and hope K&P love their sneak peek. Thank you so much for sharing your day and your story.

Pearl-District-Photographer1.jpg We found this great truck in a nearby parking lot, but much to our surprise their was a killer dog in the front seat. (well, maybe not killer, but really scary!)

Portland_wedding_SE.jpg David proposed to Britt with 1000 paper cranes that he folded. The tradition comes from an ancient Japanese legend, which grants the receiver of the cranes with 1000 years of happiness and prosperity.

Portland_wedding_SE_6.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_13.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_5.jpg Love these vintage-inspired images in a cool phone booth. These things are practically vintage!

Portland_wedding_SE_9.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_4.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_3.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_8.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_7.jpg David brought his bow and arrow and we set up some imaginative theme photos. I love love love this image!

Portland_wedding_SE_1.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_12.jpg Portland_wedding_SE_2.jpg Britt is in medical school and is almost Dr. Brittany! Her wonderful parents bought her this medical bag to keep her supplies in.

Portland_wedding_SE_10.jpg Their dog, Tycho, was in tow and was the sweetest thing ever! How cute is it that they all match!

Britt and David are tying the knot in September of this year at the incredible Lac de Fleur gardens. We recently met up in SE Portland for their unique engagement photo session, which was inspired by all things B&D! They brought their favorite things that meant the most to them, including David's bow and arrow, Britt's medical bag, and of course, their awesome dog, Tycho! Britt and David are a creative and intelligent couple and I can't wait for their wedding! Hope you love the sneak peek B&D!

wk:

what a beautiful composition. i love the fact that the more traditional view of the couple embracing is referenced and framed in the mirror, but the rest of the image has this entirely different environmental element, with the eyes being drawn across the scene to land on the soft focused hands. nicely done!

They met while parking their cars at the same time beneath the Hawthorne bridge, this is the exact location.

Oregon_Engagement_Photos12.jpg Oregon_Engagement_Photos9.jpg Kami and Brett are such an awesome couple who are getting married in May of this year. For their engagement session we had quite the adventure! We started at an architectural salvage shop because K&B just bought their first home together and love to work on home projects together. Then we went to the waterfront beneath the Hawthorne bridge to document where they first met. I was completely inspired by their story and their positive energy and I can't wait to be a part of their wedding soon!

Engagement_Portland4.jpg Meet Amy and Kevin. They are really kind, like to laugh and love each other.

Engagement_Portland7.jpg nature vs. urban. I love both!

Engagement_Portland8.jpg Engagement_Portland.jpg Engagement_Portland5.jpg This lady wanted a pic and some change. ahh Old Town.

Engagement_Portland6.jpg Engagement_Portland2.jpg Amy's eye's are an incredible blue!

Engagement_Portland3.jpg

When I asked Kevin and Amy about their engagement they both laughed a little and looked at each other. I was wondering what really happened!? As it turns out, Kevin was working in London at the time and Amy came to visit him. They went for a walk (in the rain) and Amy wanted to head back to the flat. Little did Amy know that Kevin was on a mission to propose to his high school sweet heart and carried on with the walk. When the moment happened and Kevin pulled out a stunning solitaire and the question: "Will you marry me?" happened, Amy, out of shock and joy and surprise blurted out "Are you Kidding!" Of course that was a Yes and I can't wait to document their Eugene Oregon Vineyard Wedding in July. Thanks so much Amy and Kevin for making it to Portland from your lovely home in Cali and for dealing with the crazy lady, the rain, and the cold. Hope you love the photos and hop up and down with excitement. jh

I love the vintage elegance and feel of Union Station, where my office and studio is located. Katie and Matt's outfits look great with this location... Love her shoes!

pearl_district_photographers4.jpg pearl_district_photographers6.jpg
Who doesn't love a rooftop garden kiss! Matt, Katie and I discovered this great location on our fun walk around the Pearl District.

pearl_district_photographers5.jpg pearl_district_photographers1.jpg pearl_district_photographers2.jpg pearl_district_photographers7.jpg We also discovered an awesome sports bar, where we toasted to the holidays and caught a bit of the Gonzaga game. Check out Matt's awesome Trail Blazers blog at BustaBucket.com. pearl_district_photographers8.jpg
Katie and Matt and I had a super fun time on our engagement shoot, first starting in Union Station and continuing on to the Pearl District in NW Portland. This couple is super fun and incredibly kind. They brought me a rocking Christmas CD with tons of great jazz music on it, which my family has been loving and listening to non-stop. Thanks guys! We also had a great time toasting to the holidays while watching some crazy Montana football fans and the Gonzaga game at a local sports bar... Thanks SO much Katie and Matt for being awesome and a ton of fun! I can't wait for your wedding in July and I'm very honored and excited to be working with such a kind-hearted, positive and hip couple!

Erin and Colin's surreal day took place at the magnificent Queen Anne Victorian Mansion in North Portland. This couple is truly meant to be together forever. After knowing each other since high school and writing love notes back and forth they went their separate ways to find each other again in good ol' Portland! (yeah for love!)  Erin looked stunning with her elegant vintage style, complete with hot red pumps and feather hair piece. Colin was looking dapper in a classic tux with white vest and fedora. Lamb's Thirftway did a great job on the cake and flowers, which incorporated deep reds and blacks into their creative color scheme with raspberries in the bouquets and black damask ribbon around the cake. The music was off the hook and the party continued into a late-night croquet playing and cigar smoking bash. Travis and I have had the amazing privilege to get to know this incredible, creative couple and we're so honored that we were there to document this breathtaking and poetic day. We love you guys fo' real:)

Taryn and Aaron are a wonderful couple and have a great energy together! Their wedding took place on  August 28th at the New Heights Church and the Vancouver Water Resource Center. Their colors were red and black with spashes of yellow and purple and they reflected the fun elegance of the day. The best part of the day was hanging out on the grounds of the Water Resource Center for fun pics of the couple and the wedding party. The view, the fountain, the sky.. It was all perfect and the couple shows it! Thank you so much Taryn and Aaron for inviting me to document your first steps together as husband and wife! Hope you enjoy the view!

Rhonda and Clint's August wedding was an incredible collaboration for the perfect country wedding! The ceremony and reception took place at Rhonda's beautiful family home in Aumsville Oregon. Erica Davis was the main photographer for this wedding and with Travis Schreer as a second photographer- they rocked the heck out of the photos! The fantastic Cindy Rosen with Encore events coordinated the event and did an outstanding job of pulling everything together to create the amazing wedding! Rhonda and Clint are so much fun and looked so fly on their wedding day! The magnificent Jennifer Rand-Walker with Face Body Beauty did Rhonda's fresh makeup! Their wedding colors were so much fun and filled the landscape with bright oranges, pinks and purples! The stunning invites were from the talented Cherie Ronning with Uncommon Invites, and the great linens, tent and fun dance floor were rented from Barclay Event Rentals! The delicious food was spiced to perfection from the talented crew at Premiere Catering. Their day was inspired by their families and Rhonda's cousin made the yummy cake and a close family friend made the personal flowers! Sandy Shipley was the officiant and helped to create an unforgettable ceremony. Kevan Inouye was the master of the great centerpieces and floral decor. Hybrid Moon videography was in action, as the lovely Heather documented the vows, and toasts and everything in between, while All Wright music did an awesome job of keeping the dance floor jam packed and rocking all night! Thanks so much to Rhonda and Clint for choosing Jessica Hill Photography and hope you love the sneak peek! Your comments are welcome and loved!

Libby and Kenneth are a super cool couple who are getting married August 29th at the beautiful View Point Inn. We recenlty met up for a very urban and hip engagement shoot. I love photographing on the streets of Portland, because there is always something weird and different. We found this super funky car in the Pearl district, and I love the solar flair, which adds to the colors! We also ran into a tall cowboy on the waterfront, which adds an element of mystery to the pics! Thanks so much for choosing me to document your first steps together as husband and wife and enjoy the sneak peek!

Tora and David and I met recently in Foothills Park in Lake Oswego. This park is stunning and filled with cool features on the waterfront which made for a great backdrop for their fun pics! Little did we know, however that the "concerts in the park" was going on, so we had to dodge the 100's of people and the bad cover music. :) Made for a great laugh though!  My sister, Lauren, has also been assisting me on photoshoots and got some great photos as well! Thanks to Tora and David for the inspring location and shoot! Hope you both love the sneak peek. Your comments are appreciated and encouraged!

Camilla and Paul said their "I Do's" on the 4th of July and Travis and I had the pleasure of photographing their vintage-inspired elegant wedding! The day was beautiful and the wedding was really fun and filled with smiles and laughter. Camilla and Paul had an intimate wedding at the stunning, Bridal Veil Lakes. but first got ready and did a few fun pics at, the always fun, Edgefields, with the talented make-up artist, Jennifer Walker completing Camilla's vintage look with soft and romantic shades.

Considering the history surrounding the 4th, the couple chose to re-create their ceremony to read as though it were in 1776. As soon as they were announced as husband and wife, they exited in a yellow canoe, complete with a parasol. Thanks so much Camilla and Paul or choosing me to document your awe-inspiring wedding!

Amber & Kody are getting married in August at the beautiful Shakespeare Gardens in the International Rose Garden, with a lunch wedding reception at the amazing Portland City Grill. We recently met in SE Portland at Laurelhurst Park with their awesome dogs! (Yes, that's pretty much the cutest puppy you've ever seen!) I love photographing at Laurelhurst because it's a huge, inspiring nature park in he middle of the bustling city. I am super excited and honored to photograph Amber and Kody's wedding on August 3rd. Stay tuned for their wedding post coming soon. Hope you love the sneak peak!
