Destination_Wedding_Bahamas19.jpgMeet Brad and Courtney, an incredibly kind-hearted, fun and exuberant couple.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas1.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas4.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas2.jpgThe rehearsal dinner was held at the beautiful Sky Beach Club. The night was filled with hip-shaking island music, a fish fry and good laughs and a hilarious toast given by Brad's Dad.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas3.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas5.jpg This welcome bag was given to all the guests which had lots of thoughtful treats, a bottle of wine, a map of Eleuthera Island and the keepsake canvas beach bag, which replicated the artistic invite. This is just one example of how friendly and sweet B&C are.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas6.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas10.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas9.jpg Fun shots of the guys. Brad's coat created by Portland's own Este's Men's Store.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas8.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas12.jpg Courtney was a breathtaking bride, wearing a custom dress by Phillips Bridal, located in Portland.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas13.jpg
Destination_Wedding_Bahamas14.jpg The exquisite sunset ceremony was held on the Caribbean Sea. All the guests and couple were barefoot with their feet in the soft sand.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas17.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas15.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas11.jpg The centerpieces were created using vintage tea canisters, which Courtney had been collecting for the occasion. The flowers included a colorful array of roses, zinnias, mums and tropical greens.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas20.jpg The wedding took place Cocodimama, an elegant and charming beach resort with an Italian rustic menu. The rooms, service, food and atmosphere were beyond amazing.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas23.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas24.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas22.jpg The dancing, laughs and fun went on throughout the night.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas30.jpg Judith Arnell created the sophisticated custom wedding bands. Danae Hernandez with I Dream of Letters was the brilliant calligrapher behind the invite design.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas25.jpg A relaxing and yummy good bye brunch was held the next day at the Sky Beach Club.

Destination_Wedding_Bahamas26.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas29.jpg
Destination_Wedding_Bahamas27.jpg Destination_Wedding_Bahamas16.jpg

As I start to reminisce about the beauty and power of Courtney and Brad's Bahamian wedding I get goosebumps, as the memories of the sea, the vivid colors and the warm-hearted nature of everyone involved starts flooding back. This makes me so happy. Brad's genuine and caring nature and Courtney's fun-loving and compassionate personality welcomed us and showed us why their family and friends traveled to be near them on this day. Travis and I thank you for having us there on your remarkable day.

Brad Blommer:

Jessica and Travis,

Thank you guys once again for making the trip and dazzling us with your amazing talents. After seeing a few incredible photos the day after the wedding, the anticipation for more has been killing us. These are just wonderful and thank you for the kind words. I can't tell you how nice it was down there to not have to worry about whether we were going to have amazing pictures of the special day. I'm not sure how we're going decide which ones to frame! Anything I can do for you, please let me know!

courtney blommer:

Ummmmmmm..... WOW.... Seeing these photos is like getting pinched... I thought it was just a really vivid dream.

Thank you for bringing your fabulous gift and tremendous spirit to our wedding in the Bahamas! I would've guessed that it would be an impossible task to capture the love that was in the room that night.. You captured what we were all feeling but never could've articulated. Thank you is an understatement. (tears)

We will always be your biggest fans...

Love,
Brad and Courtney

My most favorite image of 2009 for all the right reasons.

Portland_Wedding_Photographers.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers1.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers2.jpg
Nicole's amazing Prada shoes make my heart flutter.

Portland_Wedding_Photographers3.jpg
Their lovely letter press invites and unique rings, alongside the stunning bride, whose makeup was in the good hands of Nicole Wagner... Ahhmazing!

Portland_Wedding_Photographers4.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers8.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers9.jpg
Love this image~ Beachum looking dapper wearing Dolce&Gabbana and Nicole transcended "bride" in her silver Vera Wang with a backdrop of modern day graffiti in SE Portland.

Portland_Wedding_Photographers7.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers10.jpg
Love that the tables were named after the Portland precincts, and their favors were customized jam jars, created by the couple from Beachum's family recipe! The incredible Mandi Downs with Blush Bridal Consultation did an outstanding job making the day run smoothly.

Portland_Wedding_Photographers11.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers14.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers13.jpg
Portland_Wedding_Photographers18.jpg Portland_Wedding_Photographers15.jpg
The West End Theater fit their modern day vintage vibe perfectly.

Portland_Wedding_Photographers12.jpg
Instead of the traditional cake cutting, the couple chose to break creme brule. (my personal favorite)

Portland_Wedding_Photographers17.jpg
Considering this was our last wedding shoot of 2009, I can't contain my excitement about how incredible and perfect this wedding was. From the super hot style, the gorgeous flowers (created by Nicole's grandmother) to their first dance song by Neko Case, I couldn't have planned a more perfect day for this artistic couple. Nicole and Beachum are filled with compassion, sincerity and kindness and I'm so so so honored to have been in the presence of their family and friends as we celebrated their palpable love. Thank you so much to Nicole and Beachum for sharing the perfect wedding to close out a wonderous year of weddings. Love you guys big.

My grandparents are incredible and I'm so blessed to have them in my life! Shirley and Doug (aka Grams and Gramps) are super active and love tennis, bridge, their Christmas tree farm and their mystery club, which is this cool club they belong to that holds their meetings at a mystery location each month! I recently discovered these photos of them and wanted to share in the bliss.I love the wedding pic on the doorstep- taken 60 years ago! This photo is a testament to my passion and mission as a wedding photographer... To document timeless and endless love that future generations will smile about, if only for a moment.

Erica and I were honored to document Aubri and Byron's wedding on August 21st at the amazing Queen Anne Victorian Mansion. This remarkable Victorian home in North Portland is perfect for eclectic and elegant weddings! The home is filled with 17th and 18th century antiques.  Aubri and Byron's wedding was incredible and matched the vintage-inspired feel of the location. The details were immaculate and ranging from Aubri's vintage pill box hat and veil to bouquets of feathers in the deep purples and greens of the day. The stunning bouquets were created by the talented Quinn of Quinn in the City. It was very vintage and so unique! Watch for the fun details and a story of the day on Wedding's Portland Style in the near future! The ceremony was poetic and intimate and the reception was lovely and filled with great toasts, laughs and a lot of fun dancing. Thank you SO MUCH Aubri and Byron for inviting me and Erica to celebrate your unique wedding with you and your wonderful family and friends! Hope you enjoy the preview... Your comments and thoughts are appreciated:)

Ali and Jared's wedding was incredibly beautiful and inspiring! From the vineyard vistas to the garden elegance, Garden Vineyards is a stunning venue located in Hillsboro, Oregon. Jared and Ali looked amazing and exchanged vows with family and friends and their awesome dog, who also joined them on the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife! The flowers (insanely awesome!) were done by one of Ali's close friends:) The exquisite food was both vegan friendly and delicious by the talented team at Art of Catering. The seriously good music was spun by Mr Mumu - who I can't wait to dance to again soon at Saucebox. Thanks So very much for choosing me to document your gorgeous wedding and enjoy the sneak peek! Please leave a comment if you can find the only autumn leaf on the dress tree... or just because!

Hi,
Love your Composition on your pictures. But have to ask a question...Why are your pictures so white in the face? Just wondered, what camera do you have and are you using Auto?
Could you make the face's with more color in them? My bother is a photographer and said this looks like you may be using "auto mode"?
I love the way you put the people in the picture but just don't like the color.. Would love to know more about your camera, since we will be getting married out your way next Aug.. Thanks so much. Please send me your price list.. we are from Michigan and looking for a photographer like you in your area. lola

(09.13.09)
Jessica Hill:

Thanks so much for the comments! Lola- Congrats on your engagement! I use a Canon 5D mark II Camera, always in Manual Mode for both shooting as well as white balance. The white color could be because your monitor isn't calibrated correctly. I can always add more color to the images if that's the look you prefer :)

I was honored to document Amber and Kody's wedding on August 3rd at the Portland Rose Garden and The Portland City Grill. Amber and Kody both wore TOMS Shoes and I think this really speaks volumes about their compassion and love, not only towards each other, but for the world. See TOMS mission here. Their lovely sermon focused on Amber & Kody's love of nature and animals. (I'm totally in love with their awesome dogs Wheezy and Marley:) They were also attendants at the wedding! Amber wore Lena Medoyeff and looked gorgeous with her hand crafted bouquet made from fresh flowers from the local farmers market! :) Yeah! (Didn't she do a GREAT job!?) Their wedding was incredibly fun, hip and relaxed, with Grandma and Dad doing the Wave and napkin hats with the family! I had so much fun & I'm super honored to have been a part of the adventure! Hope you enjoy every instant of the preview. :) Your thoughts are welcome!

The day-after shoot for Crystal and Patrick was nothing short of astonishing. The weather was perfect and Crystal and Patrick were up for adventure! We first traveled to an abandoned church with incredible arch windows and cool graffiti, then we climbed onto the cliffs at Crane Beach for some spectacular Caribbean waves. Although we all got a little wet, it was worth it for these pics! I'm experimenting here with some new post-processing and I think it really adds to this style and the tropical colors in this set. Enjoy and please let me know your thoughts!

Crystal and Patrick's awe-inspiring wedding took place on the stunning and world renowned beaches of Barbados! Travis and I were blessed to be flown to Barbados, which is located in the West Indies, to document their incredible day. The ceremony took place on Bottoms Bay Beach which is a small, quiet area of Barbados. The local family pictured was hanging out near the party, and I love how happy they are as they watched the couple say their I Do's! The amazing dinner reception took place at The Crane Resort, located on the Crane Beach, which was named one of the top ten beaches in the world by Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous. Yes- the Caribbean Sea is really that color!  A destination wedding was the perfect way for Crystal and Patrick to have an intimate, adventurous wedding with their closest family and friends. They traveled to Rome for their honeymoon, as the bride and groom love to travel. Hope you had a fabulous time on your honeymoon and you both love the sneak peek. Thanks so much Crystal and Patrick for the unforgettable experience! Your comments are always welcome!

I'm honored to announce that I have been selected to be 1 of 20 photographers featured on the My Portland Photographer blog! The blog was started last year by a group of well-established and extremely talented Portland-area photographers. My Portland Photographer is an incredible opportunity for some of the best Portland photographers to post just one or two favorite images once a week, along with a brief story about the image or event. It's exciting to see such a great community of photographers bringing their own unique style to the same website. The blog is a true collaboration of artists!  I love blogging on MPP because I can pick my absolute favorite images to feature, not just the standard cake-cutting, first dance fare that's expected. Check out my newest post here, which features Adam and Tarina's hip wedding. Look for the Jessica Hill Photography posts every Monday!

Allie and Josh's wedding was a beautiful and forever memorable celebration of love. There wedding took place at the beautiful Zenith Vineyards on Saturday April 18th. Allie looked stunning in her Melissa Sweet gown and Twigs and Honey hair piece and Josh was looking sharp in his classic tux. The amazingly talented and fun Jennifer Rand with Face Body Beauty did Allie's romantic makeup and I highly recommend her for brides! Sue Hamilton with She Designs coordinated the event and went above and beyond, even picking white branches from the field to add to the alter to make Allie's dream wedding come true! The colors were blue with hints of silver and light pink, very romantic and vintage! The flowers were created by the talented folks at Geranium Lake. The unique and touching ceremony took place on the veranda and their family and friends were both laughing and crying! The beautiful scene made for a ceremony to remember!  My talented assistant Erica was with me and we had a blast with creative candids and portraits of the couple and the wedding party. The reception was super fun with the dance floor filled, a cool photo booth and great food from Vibrant Table! The yummy and pretty cupcakes were made by the talented Cupcake Mama! Thank you so very much Allie and Josh for choosing me to photograph your gorgeous wedding! Enjoy and congrats to you both! Check out Allie's creative wedding blog here for inspiring ideas and crafts!

Griffin is an extremely talented viola player who is graduating from high school this year to take on the classical music world. We met recently to document both Griffin's senior pics and professional head shots. It was incredible watching him play at the waterside, very surreal! I grabbed a quick photo of Lori, Griffin's mom! Aw  :) Thanks so much Griffin for choosing me to document this monumental time, and for playing the viola for us! I also want to thank Yasmin Khajavi for helping me. Enjoy the sneak peak!

Really great photos Jessica! Love how you incorporated the venue in each photograph. Also, great use of the musical instruments, adds character and story to each portrait.

014.jpg  016.jpg 017.jpg Michelle and Alex have been married for over two years and inquired about an "engagement shoot for married couples" last fall. I love the idea of getting great photos taken of you and your honey long after you've said your I Do's. It's a great time to get photos of you and your spouse for your living room, your family or even your facebook page! It was so great bonding with Alex and Michelle over our hometown of Ann Arbor Michigan! Go Blue! Alex and Michelle practice Kung Fu and ended the session with some beautiful forms. Michelle also manages Oblation, the amazing invite shop and paper boutique in the Pearl, which I highly recommend for save the dates or wedding invites! I also want to thank Chris Jernigan for assisting me! Hope you love the sneak peek Alex and Michelle!

I love these photos Jessica! And I agree - why shouldn't we be photographed after we're married? Keep up the good work!

Michelle:

Great shots, Jessica. We loved working with you -- you are great. And yes, I definitely recommend that married people get photos taken a few (or many) years in. Alex and I had so much fun and talked about our shoot for days afterwards. (The crazy guy, the mud, the cold, the kissing in public:) I can't wait to see all the rest!
