It was quite the adventure photographing sweet couple Lei Lei and Michael in SE Portland for their engagement. In true Pacific NW fashion, the weather took a slight turn and rained on our parade. Luckily we took cover beneath the bridge we moments before had been spending time on top of. Once the wet weather subsided, we headed down to the dock to capture some dusk photos. Lei Lei’s hair looked so beautiful in the wind as she and Michael laughed and played at the waterfront. They will be getting married this weekend! It was so lovely spending the afternoon with these two – even though we had a slight intermission!
I knew immediately after photographing their Portland street art engagements that whimsical & fun couple, Alison and Nathan, would have an unforgettable wedding. Alison’s flower crown created by Solabee Flowers was a beautiful expression of her bright personality. The couple’s magical vision for their special day became a reality thanks to the amazing work done by Carissa and her team from Adornment Events. Each detail was creative, thoughtful, and a complete representation of Alison and Nathan’s free-spirited and fun vibe! There was something for everyone to enjoy with lawn games, giant jenga, props for a DIY photo booth, a gorgeous cake by Dream Cakes, and even tiny succulents to admire on each table. The most unique aspect of the entire day was definitely the silent disco epic-ness that went down! Chad Dowling Productions provided headphones for each guest allowing everyone to party into the wee hours of the morning while all dancing to the same music! Not a dancer, cool- have some s’mores or a cigar by the bonfire! I loved the backyard, kick off your shoes and be happy energy of this great day! This wedding was so full of summer love and I couldn’t be more honored to have captured all of it. Thank you Alison and Nathan for choosing me to document your amazing day!
Sheila and Michael, a kind and laid back couple, met me in SW Portland at Council Crest Park to show off their easy breezy love. This place is quite special to the couple as its near Washington Park, the place where Michael popped the question to Sheila. The couple’s fast and growing connection all began when they first met at an Oregon State party. Sheila was attending school while Michael was visiting friends. Ironically upon their first meeting Michael felt adamant that he knew Sheila and after a round of 20 questions it turns out that Sheila and Michael had both swam competitively for some of the best teams in Oregon! We had a fun shoot amongst the trees watching the views of the city sharing laughs and smiles throughout. Sheila and Michael are making it official this weekend at Gorge Crest Vineyards wedding in Washington with sweeping views of Mt. Hood. (Yeah photo dreams!) The talented Katy with Bridals Bliss is planning a memorable day for Sheila and Michael along with friends and family. Sheila & Michael, thank you for spending your afternoon with me and for choosing me to capture the love that is so apparent between you two! So excited for this weekend!
Famous for the water’s deep blue color and pristine clarity, Crater Lake is a unique earth formation that I was honored to photograph. Elizabeth & Tim have connection to this sacred place. Being able to capture their love in such a historic and sentimental location warms my heart. Elizabeth and Tim shared genuine smiles and laughter as they enjoyed each other’s company sitting on a Pendleton blanket under a vast blue sky with epic mountainscapes surrounding us. There was so much love between them, it felt like no one in the world (not even me) was there with them! They are set to get married this month at Bingham Estate and I’m so thrilled to be documenting their first steps together as husband and wife!
I met Caroline and Scott, a kind & quiet couple on a gorgeous afternoon in Portland for their engagement at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. Located in SE Portland, the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a local gem for photographers with its variety of natural topography. It could not have been a more beautiful day with waterfalls and bursts of blooms in every color! I loved Caroline’s blue vintage-inspired dress that popped against the floral backdrop. I am so excited for their wedding this weekend at Cooper’s Hall! Thank you Caroline and Scott for entrusting me the honor to photograph you guys!
Tatiana and Trevor and I all met up at their iconic first date location, Bridgeport Brewery for some candid and fun photos. We then walked around the Portland’s Pearl district with their darling pup Filet. (how photogenic is that cutie!?) We took a walk down memory lane for this gorgeous and kind-hearted couple as Tatiana used to live in the Pearl so many of their early memories took place there. We also explored Forest Park for some nature-inspired photos! This first image on the patio, one of my faves from the shoot, was taken in the exact spot they met for the first time so needless to say… all the feels! Carly with Kiss and Makeup Artistry did Tatiana’s oh-so-pretty makeup and hair. So excited for their wedding with the talented Kelsey of Vanity Affair Events coming up this September in wine country!
Erika and Jon’s love story is more than just an adventure, it was a chance encounter in Bangkok, Thailand that altered their lives in ways they could have never imagined. When Erika was traveling abroad from New York and Jon was traveling from Sweden, who would know that Tinder would be the medium to bring this intelligent couple together for life. See the featured image and read their love story and announcement at the New York Times website! After submitting their engagement announcement in the New York Times and then hearing that they received the feature, we all celebrated and the celebrations lasted through the weekend with their incredible wedding taking place at a private residence near Beacon Rock in the Columbia River Gorge. Can’t wait to share more from their wedding day soon. Congrats Erika and Jon! Skol!
One of the first things you’ll notice about Whitney and John is how absolutely kind hearted they are. While walking down the Sunriver bridge we all noticed a woman a little downriver who had rescued her dog in the water and was soaked in all her clothes. John ran over to her and was willing to donate the actual shirt off his back for her so she wouldn’t be cold! Luckily she lived close, so all was good- But when I say “kindhearted” I’m like… For real kind-hearted!!! Whitney, John and I all met up in Sunriver at the brewery, only to soon discover they actually met at at Starbucks. She was behind the counter slinging lattes and he was ordering a coffee and hopefully a date. Many years and many adventures later, they are now officially tying the knot in August and I’m so excited for this wedding! We took a stroll along the waterfront with their pup and hung out at their vacation home on the deck. Such a relaxing and beautiful couple and a perfect afternoon in Sunriver.
Yes, Sarah and Carter are truly this beautiful! Their love for each other was immediately apparent in the way they interacted with each other and I love how absolutely happy they both are. It made me happy! After a few emails about cool locations, we wanted a mix of industrial and elegant, but still very Portland. So we met up in the NW industrial area and had a blast capturing their great style with interesting backdrops. I noticed right away that they were pretty comfortable in front of the camera, and then I found out that Carter was a child model! I can see why! Also, Sarah is a fashionista with an incredible (and addictive!) beauty blog called The Confessions of a Product Junkie! Check it out and be inspired. I loved her style so much, I was personally inspired to buy my very own pair of cobalt blue heels for my engagement shoot this week! Thanks so much Sarah and Carter! I’m beyond thrilled to document your elegant winter wedding at the unique Armory with Bridal Bliss handling the full service coordination. Of course, I’m especially stoked for this one!
