It was quite the adventure photographing sweet couple Lei Lei and Michael in SE Portland for their engagement. In true Pacific NW fashion, the weather took a slight turn and rained on our parade. Luckily we took cover beneath the bridge we moments before had been spending time on top of. Once the wet weather subsided, we headed down to the dock to capture some dusk photos. Lei Lei’s hair looked so beautiful in the wind as she and Michael laughed and played at the waterfront. They will be getting married this weekend! It was so lovely spending the afternoon with these two – even though we had a slight intermission!
Aaron and Allison, a couple near and dear to my heart, recently celebrated their wedding anniversary. I was beyond honored when Allison asked me to photograph her wedding because Allison had actually spent a year or so interning for me while pursuing a degree in art school. It was during this time that I was able to meet Aaron (her then boyfriend) and her sweet family. Allison is now a full time designer at Columbia Sportswear and I am such a proud Mama Bear! Allison and Aaron had a fun, wine-country celebration beneath the trees at the gorgeous Domaine de Broglie Vineyard. Formally known as “Vista Hills Estate”, this beautiful piece of land is now owned by the Copolla Family who have brought with them a fresh and revitalized energy to these famous grounds. Your Perfect Bridesmaid totally nailed the day’s timeline and curated every detail to perfection. Allison, who is super close with her family, chose to do a first look with her dad and brother before meeting Aaron at the end of the aisle. The heart-warming moment didn’t leave a dry eye around. Surrounded by the warm glow of golden hour in the vines, Aaron gave Allison the most loving looks as they exchanged vows. I am so grateful to not only have had the opportunity to capture this beautiful occasion but to have had the opportunity to cultivate the relationship I so cherish with Allison and Aaron. I knew immediately after photographing their Portland street art engagements that whimsical & fun couple, Alison and Nathan, would have an unforgettable wedding. Alison’s flower crown created by Solabee Flowers was a beautiful expression of her bright personality. The couple’s magical vision for their special day became a reality thanks to the amazing work done by Carissa and her team from Adornment Events. Each detail was creative, thoughtful, and a complete representation of Alison and Nathan’s free-spirited and fun vibe! There was something for everyone to enjoy with lawn games, giant jenga, props for a DIY photo booth, a gorgeous cake by Dream Cakes, and even tiny succulents to admire on each table. The most unique aspect of the entire day was definitely the silent disco epic-ness that went down! Chad Dowling Productions provided headphones for each guest allowing everyone to party into the wee hours of the morning while all dancing to the same music! Not a dancer, cool- have some s’mores or a cigar by the bonfire! I loved the backyard, kick off your shoes and be happy energy of this great day! This wedding was so full of summer love and I couldn’t be more honored to have captured all of it. Thank you Alison and Nathan for choosing me to document your amazing day!
Sheila and Michael, a kind and laid back couple, met me in SW Portland at Council Crest Park to show off their easy breezy love. This place is quite special to the couple as its near Washington Park, the place where Michael popped the question to Sheila. The couple’s fast and growing connection all began when they first met at an Oregon State party. Sheila was attending school while Michael was visiting friends. Ironically upon their first meeting Michael felt adamant that he knew Sheila and after a round of 20 questions it turns out that Sheila and Michael had both swam competitively for some of the best teams in Oregon! We had a fun shoot amongst the trees watching the views of the city sharing laughs and smiles throughout. Sheila and Michael are making it official this weekend at Gorge Crest Vineyards wedding in Washington with sweeping views of Mt. Hood. (Yeah photo dreams!) The talented Katy with Bridals Bliss is planning a memorable day for Sheila and Michael along with friends and family. Famous for the water’s deep blue color and pristine clarity, Crater Lake is a unique earth formation that I was honored to photograph. Elizabeth & Tim have connection to this sacred place. Being able to capture their love in such a historic and sentimental location warms my heart. Elizabeth and Tim shared genuine smiles and laughter as they enjoyed each other’s company sitting on a Pendleton blanket under a vast blue sky with epic mountainscapes surrounding us. There was so much love between them, it felt like no one in the world (not even me) was there with them! They are set to get married this month at Bingham Estate and I’m so thrilled to be documenting their first steps together as husband and wife!
Capturing Christina and Isaac’s timeless and modern wedding was a dream! The couple got ready at The Nines Hotel, a contemporary and stylish luxury hotel located in the heart of downtown Portland. Christina looked so chic in her BHLDN wedding gown; a perfect combination of simplicity and intricate detail. Her classic flower arrangements, created by the talented team at Geranium Lake, complimented the bride’s ensemble exquisitely. The groom’s style was on point in his custom created tux by Suit Supply. Isaac even incorporated a creative detail by adding an embroidered inside joke that he and Christina had shared during law school into the lining of his jacket. The architecture of our iconic Portland photo locations, The Treasury and The Benson Hotel, were stunning and really encapsulated the vibe of the couple’s wedding day. Bold lines and modern shapes met with the historic elegance of the structure made for the ultimate venue composite. Christina and Isaac looked right at home with one another amidst the sleek corinthian columns. Following an intimate civil ceremony, Christina and Isaac treated their guests to an incredible experience at their contemporary Bluehour Restaurant reception! Guests had the pleasure of indulging in a 5 course meal that included caviar, Dom Perignon Champagne, and a beautifully minimalistic cake provided by Bluehour. Friends and family enjoyed each other’s company as they danced and celebrated the happy couple’s special Portland wedding day. I can’t thank Christina and Isaac enough for creating such an exquisite day and for entrusting me to capturing it. Wishing all the love and happiness for this sophisticated & sweet couple!
I met Caroline and Scott, a kind & quiet couple on a gorgeous afternoon in Portland for their engagement at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. Located in SE Portland, the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a local gem for photographers with its variety of natural topography. It could not have been a more beautiful day with waterfalls and bursts of blooms in every color! I loved Caroline’s blue vintage-inspired dress that popped against the floral backdrop. As soon as I met Patience and Egan we immediately clicked and ended up talking for hours about their world travels (Japan & Greece!) and where to find the best sushi in Portland! (Ichidai and Bamboo!) Egan fell for Patience when they met one another while at summer camp! These two are such a kind, beautiful, and empathetic couple who I had the pleasure of photographing their engagements at Mt. Tabor, a popular urban park in SE Portland known for its views and water reservoirs. With the Portland city skyline as our backdrop, we made our way to a few beautiful locations around this gorgeous urban park along with their cutie pie pup Corgie, Kevin. We headed to the waterfront for some iconic sunset photos with Portland in the distance. I’m honored to have captured the love between Patience and Egan as the sun peaked through the trees amidst mesmerizing sunset reflections on the river. I loved connecting with these two and Patience’s makeup and hair by Olivia Hawthorne. They are getting married this June at the Sentinel in downtown Portland and I just know that their day will be filled with so much love. Thank you Patience and Egan for allowing me to be a part of your story.
Vi and Alex are not only a stunning couple, but also kind, super laid back and hella cool. We had a blast getting to know each other during their downtown rooftop engagement session and their September wedding took place at the elegant Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, Oregon. Their wedding was so full of color, light, joy and tradition and I had a blast photographing their remarkable day. Coordination by the always talented Bridal Bliss team with stunning florals by Bella Bloom and hair and makeup from Olivia Hawthorne. Dance party was insane with DJ Zimmie along with an equally insane wedding cake created by Dream Cakes along w/ killer party food with 1927 S’mores. I loved the beautiful Sri Lankan lamp lighting ceremony where the bride and groom and their families took turns lighting an oil lamp to signify the two families becoming one family. This was truly a wedding that I’ll never forget filled with bold colors, laughter, dancing and SO MUCH LOVE and you can see it in print now in the most recent Real Weddings issue of Oregon Bride Magazine.
