Theresa and Sung dazzled at their Hug Point engagement and bridal session! Theresa was absolutely stunning in her bright red dress and Sung looked so dapper in his suit. We spent the first half of the session in the lush woods for a classic Pacific Northwest look and then made our way down to the beach for sunset and magic lighting. Theresa and Sung have such beautiful chemistry together and I can’t wait for their wedding!
Molly and Ryan celebrated their engagement among the potted plants and hanging vines of Blockhouse and Pomarious a stunning local Portland plant nursery. The couple are merging their households and beginning a life together as a beautiful family of five, which meant I had the chance to meet and document their lovely children, Sara, Ben and Jackson. After a fun family photo session, we snuck away with Molly and Ryan to wander among the inspiring greenhouses and capture some intimate moments during a stunning sunset. Molly is a master gardener and we had a blast talking about plants and flowers. They are getting married this September at their home residence in their own gorgeous garden among a small group of family and friends. I can’t wait to capture their special day along with their nearest and dearest.
Ellie and I met while attending the School of Art at the University of Michigan during a “Art of the Nudes” summer class taught by the famous New York photographer Ernestine Ruben. It was a crazy amazing class where we photographed nude models in the woods around Ann Arbor (which later inspired me to start my boudoir brand Peekaboo Portland!) Needless to say Ellie and I hit it off right away that experience connected us ever since. We later worked together for years at both Cafe Zola and The Earle Restaurant (heyyy Earle crew!) in downtown Ann Arbor and even had a joint art show at a well known underground gallery bar together. I’m so lucky to know Ellie, (now an incredible pastry chef & baker) and I am so glad she found a fellow artist & soulmate in Nick. Nick is a musician in an amazing band called the Little Traps. He’s hilarious and they make a crazy magical couple. I am still smitten over their lakeside Michigan wedding one year ago today. The ceremony took place at Sunset Cove Bed & Breakfast, a stunner of a log cabin tucked between two lakes with sprawling views. Ellie wore a White by Vera Wang satin gown and couldn’t have looked more elegant and dazzling while walking down the aisle. She’s always been a total babe, but her bridal style was just perfect. (umm her nails though?) As you can probably guess from the photo, this was the moment Nick first saw Ellie and he was absolutely floored. #bestgroomreactionever The ceremony was coordinated by the talented Vows and Veils Wedding Crew and filled with special details like custom flasks for the groomsmen and hand-tied wildflower bouquets. After the ceremony, guests busted out on the dance floor to rock ‘n roll ballads, while enjoying food from Eat and a glorious custom Sweet Heather Anne black wedding cake with hand-applied sugar sequins. Wow! Rather than the traditional mother/son and father/daughter dances the couple chose to dance with their entire immediate families and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. (including my own! Also- can this be the new tradition forever? ) Cheers to Ellie and Nick, may the years to come be filled with endless happiness, creative genius and magic love. Love you guys!
After photographing Griffin’s high school senior photos back in 2009 (omg) we’ve stayed Facebook friends since and I was overjoyed to see the notification that he and Billy were engaged! I met up with them in Sausalito for delish oysters and white wine and great convos before heading into the Marin Headlands to photograph their epic Golden Gate sunset portraits. I loved capturing their stylish and elegant yet laid-back styles and seeing them interact, laugh and love each other. I’m so happy these two found each other from Thailand and Oregon respectively in the Golden City.
Dahna, Neil and I, and their awesome pup Penelope, met up at Cathedral Park; beneath the St. John’s bridge recently. We had a blast finding sun soaked trees and a cool random and huge pile of vinyl just sitting on a picnic table. The talented Kirstie Wight did Dahna’s pretty makeup. This loving and kind couple are down to earth, really fun and absolutely adorably in love. I can’t wait for their wedding this August at Bridal Veil Lakes!
The vintage wallpaper in Cat and Sam’s apartment is simply wonderful, but not as great as this beautiful, kind and creative couple. Cat and Sam live in Ann Arbor, they met in DC and they are getting married in Oregon this summer. I met Cat when she was the maid of honor at Callie and Andy’s unforgettable wedding. This photo shoot was especially inspiring for me because I lived in Ann Arbor for over 6 years and that’s where I started my career in wedding photography while earning my BFA in Photography from the University of Michigan. Cat and Sam are both graduate students at UofM and it was so fun to hear and see how things are the same, yet so different. We discovered hidden ivy walls, rode bikes and had too much fun at at a bar called bar. Needless to say, I cant wait for their wedding.
Jessica and Jason have been together for over 15 years and had the most beautiful baby girl, Gracen 9, months ago. They are now anticipating their upcoming nuptials at a stunning resort in Idaho, which I’m honored to document in September! We had a lot of fun around N. Mississippi and I love the mix of country and city within these images with the grasses, the truck and the murals.
